CAV Systems aim to Lead With Innovation, one of their revered company values. Innovation is all about how one can grow further and bigger, and one area the company has always had a generous and leading hand in is nurturing and investing in the future by way of apprentices! With this attitude of inspiring the careers of the younger generation, the UK CAV team attended various Careers Fairs to meet with potential candidates.
Derwentside College, Consett, Open Evening:
Taking place on the 19th June, HR Manager and SLT member Laura Taylor and Production Lead Chris Turnbull, along with Manufacturing Apprentice Evan Burns attended the Derwentside College Open Evening. The purpose of this event was to talk about possible careers and training opportunities with both the college and with local employers. Chatting with a number of potential students about how apprenticeships work within CAV, they spoke to various students and possible candidates. As an apprentice himself, Evan clearly explained to the students considering the apprenticeship route what he does as an apprentice.
Park View School, Chester le Street, Careers Fair:
Laura and Chris were joined this time by Production Operator Olly Walton on the 19th June for a Careers Fair at Park View School in Chester-le-Street. They spoke with students from years 9, 10 and 12 about their future careers plans and interests in the aerospace sector. With over 600 students attending the event, there were many different employers and industries represented, from aviation to manufacturing. They had some really engaging conversations with students, who asked some insightful questions about what it’s like to work at CAV and what the different types of career paths are available at the company. The squeezy CAV-branded aeroplanes were also incredibly popular with nearly 100 given away!
St Bede’s Catholic School, Lanchester – Year 7 World of Work event:
Coming up on the 11th July, Lead Manufacturing Engineer Andy English and Manufacturing Engineer Jemma Wheatley will be attending the World of Work event at St. Bedes Catholic School in Lanchester. The year 7 students are tasked with asking questions about our company and the different types of jobs we have here to help them broaden their understanding of the world of work.
