OEMs

Specialists in airborne ice protection, our engineers support Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) in the development and certification of TKS® ice protection systems for new aircraft design.

Applying geometric and aerodynamic analysis alongside mission requirements, our engineers are accomplished in designing the optimal ice protection system that maintains the aerodynamic performance of your aircraft.

Using a seamlessly integrated design, and made of highly polished titanium, TKS® matches the profile of the leading edges to preserve the premium appearance of your aircraft.

As an anti-icing system with de-icing capability, TKS® offers an unsurpassed level of performance. We can develop factory-installed CAV TKS® Ice Protection Systems for inadvertent icing or Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI) certifying systems for new single-engine, twin-engine and turbine aircraft.

Key

TKS® System

Evenly dispersed from laser-drilled titanium panels, TKS® fluid prevents ice from bonding to the aircraft frame.

Surface Protection

TKS® fluid flows back across the airfoil and prevents moisture from freezing to the rest of the aircraft frame.

OEM Design

Premier Design

Alongside your own team, we define the protected areas, and analyse the physical definitions and flight properties of the aircraft to calculate the fluid flow rate required to ensure the aircraft is protected from ice.

Having established the impingement limits, the flow and active zones are optimised prior to extensive ice wind tunnel testing and predictions of performance explored.

A TKS® system provides anti-ice protection for the designed condition and less severe icing encounters but also provides a de-ice solution for more severe encounters that fall outside of the design envelope.

The total fluid the system must carry is therefore dependent upon the desired level of protection and system flow balance and hardware placement is design for optimal performance of the TKS® System and the aircraft.
