CAV Systems engineer Koji Shimoi examines the development and application of a Fluid-Based Nacelle Ice Protection System
Presentation Summary -
Selecting an Ice Protection System (IPS) can impact significantly on the performance of UAM aircraft as our review on a notional vehicle illustrates.
Ice Protection Systems can have a considerable impact on the performance and range of a UAM. To illustrate, the CAV team utilized their extensive knowledge, to size various IPS for a leading UAM aircraft – the Beta Alia 250. This case study was presented at CAV Systems, by Alex Baty, VP Engineering at Electric & Hybrid Technology Symposium in Frankfurt.
A comparison of CAV’s Freezing Point Depressant IPS to legacy Bleed Air and emerging Electro-Thermal Systems
Overview of designing a Freezing Point Depressant Ice Protection System.
As large commercial aircraft continue to attempt to decrease their bleed air demands and smaller aircraft look for more efficient and higher performing ice protection systems (IPS) the industry must look at new solutions.
